Glenwood Kitchen Project – Custom Galley style kitchen

The Glenwood project cabinets were part of a colonial home remodel in western Howard County MD. This project features custom flush inset cabinets, Knotty alder island, coffee bar, and drink station with black stain. An additional feature is the black walnut wood interiors in the glass door cabinets complimenting the black walnut floating shelves at the coffee bar.

The main challenge of the project was the existing layout restrictions. Being built in the 90’s the kitchen had a closed-in feel to it with an L-shaped perimeter and L-shaped island. The homeowners wanted to open the space and allow for better flow and a more welcoming overall space.  This required custom design expertise and collaboration skills to make the space perfect for the homeowner’s lifestyle. A perimeter wall was removed allowing a galley overall layout with a large rectangular island. Also, the new layout allowed distinct kitchen zones like a coffee bar, drink station, and decorative hutch. This allows the kitchen to be both functional for food preparation and welcoming for others to gather and enjoy.
